Exhibition Blurb (EN)
Blue Utopia invites viewers
into an immersive blue field where “emotion precedes explanation.” Mechanical
limbs and hand-made textiles are juxtaposed to reveal tension between order and
fracture; routes through the space shift one’s point of view from structure to
incompleteness. Drawing on wabi-sabi aesthetics and the passage of time, the
show turns the pull between ideal and reality into an intimate, felt
experience.

Wenwen Zhu is an award-winning
multidisciplinary artist working across design and animation direction, based
in Chicago. Her practice juxtaposes 3D animation with hand-drawn languages,
fusing a surreal sensibility with wabi-sabi aesthetics; with restraint and
subtlety, she lets atmosphere and emotion precede rational exposition. In
design, she has received Gold at the MUSE Creative Awards (Corporate
Identity: Brand Identity), Silver at the MUSE Creative Awards (Print
Collateral), Gold at the Hermes Creative Awards (Print Media | Branded
Graphics Suite), and American Illustration 44 CHOSEN. As a filmmaker,
her works have been selected by the Annecy International Animation Film

and have won experimental-film honors at the International Gold Awards (New
York), The Dreamers Film Festival (Brooklyn, New York), Asian
Independent Film Festival (India), Milan Gold Awards,
and New York Movie Awards. Continuing to explore the subtle tensions
between the individual, society, and nature, she creates open spaces where
order and fracture interweave, yielding a distinctive, poetic visual language.
